FAQ's About Our Business Change

Why are you leaving?

Over the years we have seen customers shopping preferences change both in line with the impact of the local economy but also family life.  Work / life balance puts pressure on some of our customers and being able to visit us is difficult.  We want to offer a fantastic service to our customers and have found being flexible to their needs is the best way to do this.

In addition, the food side of our business has exploded and now forms the main part of our income.  It makes sense to develop this and reduce our overheads as much as possible.  This means removing the biggest expense from our business, our rent and the associated costs of running a physical shop.

Why now?

We've had our shop for almost 5 years and we have given it absolutely everything we've got; from creating our Oakwood days to Santa Paws Grotto, in store events and more.  We are proud of the impact we have made on our local community and how we have helped improve your dog's lives.

We have noticed the way people shop has changed over the last few years so we are adapting to that.  As well as the direction of our business has evolved since launching our own food brand.

When will be your last day?

Our last day in the shop will be Saturday 6th June 2026.  You can use our website and our new number from now onwards.

I buy my dog food from you, what will change?

If you already are a subscriber - nothing will change

If you purchase our wet or dry dog food in store, please head to our website and join our subscription service.

If you purchase food for click and collect, we will convert you to local delivery.

We are thinking creatively about how we can provide a click and collect service for local customers

How can I buy my treats / poop bags etc?

We have lots of ways you can do this.

Add them to your existing, regular order.

Purchase items or join subscribe and save through our website.

Visit us at the Northern Star Artisan Market every month.

Book our brand new service - Pantry At Your Door to come to your home or office

Support us at events, markets and other pop up's

Will you still have your pick and mix?

100% yes.  Pick n mix will be available at our markets; both pre-made tubs (these will be available on our website too) as well as tubs for you to fill.

Will everything you have in store also be available on your website?

We are reviewing all of products / brands and in particular; our treats.  We will continue to stock DogNip and other favourites but slower selling items will be discontinued.  We are looking at introducing bigger 1kg bags to bring your even greater value.

We will be expanding our food range to include more flavours / working dog options and will be adding hydrolysed cat food to our functional diet range.

You will still be able to buy supplements and lick mats

Some items may be seasonal but we haven't finalised this yet.  For example, we may not sell ice cream once this final stock has sold.

Will will no longer stock grooming and hygiene products, dental products, walking accessories (such as lights, retractable leads etc) that aren't part of the Dog Copenhagen range (although we may still retain some of our Halti products).

We are open to receiving all feedback / ideas so if there is anything you want us to keep stocking please let us know and we will take it under consideration.

Will you still be having your Santa Paws Grotto?

We really hope so. This is a top priority for us, but it requires a lot of thinking about logistics.  There are so many factors involved in organising this.  We still have the original and best Santa Paws in Leeds and we know this is the highlight of the year for so many of you.

Will you be having a closing down sale?

We are not closing down, but we may reduce the price on items we no longer plan to stock.  We will dedicate a specific space in the shop for this.

Can I still return or exchange items?

Nothing will change until 6th June after that please refer to our returns and exchange policy on our website

Will you honour gift cards?

All gift cards will need to be used in store before we close.  After the 6th June we will have a new gift card system available through our website.

What will happen to the loyalty cards?

The scheme will cease when we close the shop.  However, we are looking into developing a new scheme for use on our website.

Are you reopening elsewhere?

Currently our plans are to operate online and at markets and events.  We will be working from home until such time as we outgrow our space and need to look for new premises.

It may seem as though we are doing the opposite to other retailers, but we've spent the last 2 years listening to customers, learning what their pain points are, what they want from a business like ours and understanding the challenges they face as a family.

We are taking the best bits of what we do well and moving forward with them to hopefully create something truly special for our Woof community.
